Who’s responsible
OutPost is operated by Shanie Martin, trading as OutPost, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: shanie@outpostuk.com. Registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, registration number ZC166037.
What we collect
We collect:
- Your account details, such as your email address.
- The business and brand information you give us during onboarding and in the app, used to generate your content.
- The content, briefs and preferences you create and edit in OutPost.
- Engagement insights for social accounts you choose to connect, read on your behalf through our analytics provider.
- Billing information, handled by our payment provider. We don’t store your full card number.
- Basic usage and device information needed to run the service securely.
How and why we use it
We use your information to provide OutPost: to generate and improve your content, run your account, take payment, and keep the service secure and working. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the product, and, where relevant, your consent. We don’t sell your data.
AI processing
To produce your drafts, the business information and instructions you provide are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate text and graphics. This is core to how OutPost works. We don’t use your content to train AI models.
Who processes your data for us
We use a small set of trusted providers to run OutPost, who process data on our instructions and only to provide their part of the service:
- Supabase — database and account sign-in.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic — AI generation of your drafts.
- Stripe — payments and card handling.
- Zernio — reading insights for social accounts you connect, and publishing posts you schedule.
- Resend — service emails, such as reminders.
- Google — optional sign-in if you choose it.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK’s approved safeguards for that transfer, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we hold it for a 30-day grace period in case you change your mind, then permanently delete it. We may keep limited billing records for longer where UK accounting and tax law requires (currently up to 6 years).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or port your data, and object to or restrict some processing. You can download a copy of your data and delete your account at any time from your settings, or email shanie@outpostuk.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d like the chance to help first.
Cookies
We use essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep the app working. We don’t use them for advertising.
Changes
We may update this policy as OutPost develops, and we’ll update the date above when we do.
